PROGRAM OVERVIEW

IF YOU HAVE SPIRIT, WE WANT TO HEAR IT!

Welcome to Rancho Bernardo Pop Warner Cheer!

We welcome back our returning families and congratulate our new cheerleaders and their families on joining the RBPW family. All youth residing in the 92127, 92128 and surrounding communities are encouraged to register and become a part of our incredible program. All participants must be at least 5 years old by July 31st.

MISSION STATEMENT

To enable youth to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a structured environment. Through this active participation, our program teaches fundamental values, skills and knowledge that youth will use throughout their lives, while emphasizing the importance of academic success. To provide fun athletic learning opportunities for children. Specifically, Pop Warner seeks to familiarize players and spirit participants with the fundamentals of football, cheerleading and dance. Our program strives to inspire youth to practice the ideals of sportsmanship, scholarship and physical fitness.

ACADEMICS MATTER:

Pop Warner is the only national youth sports organization that requires its participants to perform adequately in the classroom before permitting them to play, Cheerleaders must maintain a minimum “C” average during the school year. Each year, RBPW’s top academic scholars are eligible to apply to the Pop Warner Little Scholars program which offers academic scholarships to eligible applicants.

2 MAIN COMPONENTS OF RBPW CHEER PROGRAM

Both components require 110% commitment and dedication! Standing in front of a full stadium or on stage in front of an audience is no easy feat. From performing for a crowd, to serving as ambassadors at community events, to working a skill over and over to get it right, cheerleaders build confidence and self-esteem that will carry them through life.

  1. Sideline Cheer (All 5-15 Aged Based Divisions)
Involves cheerleaders cheering on the football teams during games, leading chants and cheers for the players and fans, and helping to create a lively and supportive atmosphere. The 5-6 Age Based Division is non-competitive, however are expected to participate in a Showcase Performance at the first West Coast Conference Competition (local in SD).
  2. Competitive Cheer (7-15 Age Based Divisions) See Competition Acknowledgement
Involves cheerleaders performing a choreographed routine that showcases stunting skills, tumbling, jumps, and dance. These routines are then scored against other cheer squads in cheer-specific competitions. Competitions support personal development that empowers youth to learn lifelong character skills such as perseverance and dedication.

PARENT/FAMILY INVOLVMENT

PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS, WE NEED YOU!

Rancho Bernardo Pop Warner Board of Directors, all Head, Assistant, and Youth Demo Coaching Staff are 100% community-based volunteers. Our volunteering philosophy emphasizes all hands-on deck is needed and 100% parent participation effort is requested to help foster our commitment of community building. Parent and family involvement is one of the most important components to maintain a successful youth program.

How can I volunteer? There are endless opportunities!

Hey Mom or Dad – YOU TOO, CAN COACH A YOUTH CHEER TEAM!

Enthusiastic and positive volunteers are needed each season to coach. Coaching a youth sports team can be a tremendously rewarding experience. Volunteers are not required to have a player in the program, volunteers who do have a player in the program can be considered to coach their child’s team. Teams cannot exist if there are not enough coach volunteers, check out our current open Head and Assistant Coach positions!

Additional opportunities: Business Manager/Team Parents are needed for every team division, Game Day snacks, concessions, set ups and break down of RBPW sponsored events, additional Game Day duties as needed, team fundraising, and hosting or help facilitate team building events are just a few of the many ways to fulfill the volunteer request. Please contact your team’s Head Coach or Ashlee Jasmund, Cheer Coordinator at [email protected] for additional information!

One step further in getting involved?
